Alnmouth has an active village community and a regular programme of events throughout the year.

New Year's Day Swim

Hundreds of brave swimmers will kick off 2020 by running straight into the North Sea for a New Year's Day Dip.


New Year's Day swims in the North Sea are a tradition in Alnmouth.  On January 1, people will line up on the beach before running into the chilly sea. Entrants can choose to raise money for charity.

Cheese & Wine - 21st Feb, 2020 - 'Village Vignettes'

The speaker is Marjorie Mountain, who used to own and run a small pre-prep school in the village. She will be sharing her recollections of village characters from 50 years ago - when she first moved to Alnmouth.

'Angels of the North' - Theatre at Hindmarsh Hall - March 15th, 2020

Northumberland Theatre Company production of 'Angels of the North'. Renacting the lives  of famous northern women in history. 

Food Fair - April 5th, 2020

Every year, Alnmouth Parish Council organises  a village-wide Food Fair the Sunday before Easter to showcase the region's wonderful range of local foods and the talented people who produce them. Traders will be in and around the Hindmarsh Hall and all proceeds will go to the Hindmarsh Hall Refurbishment Fund.  


Village shops and eateries will also be promoting local fare. Come join us and enjoy a wide range of delicious northeastern foods, from cheese and ice cream to condiments and baked goods, fish, meat and much more!


Venue: Hindmarsh Hall 10am - 5.00pm. Entry FREE 


Alnmouth 'Secret Gardens' - May 31st, 2020

Buy the venue guide atthe Hindmarsh Hall, then wander round the village looking at a variety of gardens. Plant stall and refreshments in Hindamrsh Hall 10am - 4.00pm


Tickets £5 on the day. One lucky ticket holder will win a gardening voucher!

Alnmouth Arts Festival - June 20th & 21st, 2020

Started in 2005, the Alnmouth Arts Festival is a regular fixture on the Northumberland arts events calendar. Taking place over a weekend in June, the Festival has become the major art event in north Northumberland, attracting in excess of 3000 visitors to exhibitions by over 100 artists and craftworkers whose displays are spread around the village.

 

The Festival is organised by a Working Group of the Parish Council and full information about the 2020 event can be found on the website.

 

Sunday Strawberry Tea - August 2nd 2020 at the Friary

Held in the delightful gardens of the Alnmouth Friary of St Francis, the Strawberry Tea is a popular annual fundraiser for the  Hindmarsh Hall Restoration Fund.


Musical entertainment with The Alnwick Symphonic  Wind Ensembler. A lovely afternoon and one not to be missed !

Sheep Tales Wool Festival - Saturday 5th Sept, 2020

Hindmarsh Hall, Northumberland St, Alnmouth  


Sheep Tales celebration of all things woollen. Alnmouth, annual  wool festival where you will find lots of unique high quality wool products and handmade goods from a host of makers and artisans. There'll also be craft demonstrations throughout the day. 


Soup, homemade cakes and refreshments served in the Hindmarsh Hall throughout the day.

Entry FREE.  10 am - 4 pm


P.S.  There's also lots of lovely pubs and cafes in the beautiful seaside village of Alnmouth and an amazing beach.

Christmas Craft Fair - 24th October 2020

Alnmouth Parish Council proudly presents the ANNUAL CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIR at the Hindmarsh Hall. Home made soups, scones and cakes will be on sale in the lower hall. Meet familiar faces selling an amazing range of original artwork, glass, textiles, wood, photography, ginger wine, jewellery, paper, patchwork and much, much more. All proceeds go towards the Hindmarsh Hall Refurbishment Fund. FREE admission.


Christmas Craft & Food Fair

Alnmouth Beer Festival - 2nd - 4th Oct, 2020

A fantastic weekend of great food, live music, prosecco and of course, real ale - raising funds for HospiceCare. hosted by the Red Lion Inn since 2010.  The Festival features a carefully selected range of real ales, produced by some of our favourite brewers most of which have appeared on the Red Lion Inn bar at one time or another.  

Bonfire Night - Thursday, November 5th, 2020

The village Bonfire and Fireworks display on almouth Common, co-hosted by Alnmouth Parish Council and the Burgage Holders of Alnmouth Common, is a popular event with families, locals and visitors alike. 


Soup and hotdogs are on sale on the night with with monies collected going towards the cost of the firework display.  


The bonfire is lit at 5.30pm and the fireworks display starts at 6.00pm. Admission is FREE, but visitors are invited to make a donation towards the cost of the event.

Alnmouth Christmas Lights - November 28th, 2020

Thanks to the hard work of the the Parish Council Christmas Lights Working Group, Alnmouth is festooned each festive season with an impressive display of Christmas lights with large Christmas trees at each end of Northumberland Street. 


Alnmouth villagers are extremely generous in their support and regularly raise funds for the lighting display.  Thanks are also due to the householders who allow the lights to be placed on their property and who provide free electricity!


The 'Switch On' of the lights is a major village event marking the start of the Christmas season in Alnmouth. The shops stay open later into the evening, Santa comes to meet the children and a large crowd enjoys the spectacle and the party atmosphere.
